Astrophysics: Decoding the Cosmos (Second Printing, with corrections, is now available) is an accessible introduction to the key principles and theories underlying astrophysics. This text takes a close look at the 'signal' (radiation and, to a lesser extent, particles) that we receive from astronomical objects, and shows how this signal carries information to us. Encoded in the signal may be information about matter with which it interacts along the way and, of course, the source itself. Many examples and problems are provided and a complete solutions manual is available (click at left for more information).

The text is intended for upper year undergraduates --- either astronomy students who want a foundation for later specialized courses or physics students who want an overview of the astronomer's approach. The book may also be useful to new graduate students who have no astronomy background.
